In 2008, TECOM acquired a stake in Madamobil. S.A.

Madamobil is a newly licensed telecom operator in the republic of Madagascar. TECOM acquired a stake of 37%  for a total consideration of Euro 27.8 million. 

Madamobil is the 4th  mobile operator in the country to be licensed. The population of Madagascar is about 20 million growing at approx 3% annually. With a subscriber base of 3.2 million (16% penetration), there is an attractive market for mobile penetration within the provinces of Madagascar. Some of the key strengths of Madamobil include a network technology that enables clear voice quality and relatively low cost IP based network that can support high speed data.
