Chief Executive Officer - TECOM Business Parks
Dr Amina Al Rustamani is the Chief Executive Officer of TECOM Business Parks which is the newly established entity of TECOM Investments designed to function as an umbrella organization for all the nine free zone clusters of TECOM Investments.
As the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Al Rustamani is responsible for defining and executing the strategy of all the free zones so that the objective of establishing a knowledge based economy as mandated by the Government of Dubai is effectively realized in the medium and long term. She is leading this initiative in the ICT, Media, Education, Life Sciences and Clean Technology industries as embodied in the free zones comprising Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Knowledge Village, Dubai Studio City, International Media Production Zone, DuBiotech, Dubai Outsource Zone, Dubai International Academic City, and Enpark.
Prior to her current role, Dr Al Rustamani served as Executive Director of Media at TECOM Investments, where she made significant and pioneering contributions towards the growth of TECOM Investments’ media clusters encompassing Dubai Media City, Dubai Studio City and the International Media Production Zone. She also undertook various initiatives to establish and enforce a code of conduct for the broadcasting and production industries.
Dr Al Rustamani’s pioneering initiatives in the media sector brought her recognition at the federal level, when she was appointed as a Board member of the National Media Council, the industry body established in June 2006 to regulate the country’s media sector. In addition, she is a Board member of DMI, Dubai Media Inc, since 2007 and a Board member of TECOM Investments since 2006.
She was also instrumental in leading a strategic initiative in partnership with Dubai Media City, Dubai Media Inc, Emirates Media Abu Dhabi and du to establish the viability of DVB H technology as a platform for Mobile TV. This was done over a six month trial in 2007.
Dr Al Rustamani started her career with TECOM in April 2001 when she was appointed as Project Engineer for TECOM’s satellite communication project, Samacom, where she excelled in meeting tight schedules in the launch of broadcasting services to Dubai Media City clients and utilised her technical knowledge effectively to manage the complex project.
Dr Al Rustamani received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University, Washington DC, in 1993, 1996 and 2001 respectively.
She is an acknowledged authority on wireless technologies, and her original contributions in this field have been published in several leading technical journals in the field of wireless technology. |
